70 years is a time to celebrate. 70 years is a legacy to reflect on, and an encouragement to continue in our work of empowering and impacting lives.

And while we are putting a quantity to our years of service, we care more about the quality of care, resources, and opportunities that we provide to our employees.

At Lott Industries, our vision is to be the premier provider of services for people with developmental disabilities and others with barriers to employment, to be a quality business partner, and, in return, enhance our community.

We believe our community is strongest when every person is involved. 

That’s why we are excited to share what’s taking place at Lott this month. In this newsletter, you’ll read about our incredible employees who are learning skills and gaining independence through our Day Services, who are impacting the solar panel industry in Toledo and internationally, and learn about our most recent employee becoming a homeowner.

Enhancing Lives

One of the ways we strive to be the premier provider for adults with developmental disabilities is through our Adult Day Program services, which help to build confidence and independence in our employees. With multiple skill types we teach, we are happy to empower and equip each individual, enhancing their lives.

Each day looks a little different here at Lott. If you stop by our Day Program, you may walk into a cooking class, an exercise class, or an afternoon of art activities. You may catch us out back at the Urban Farm, planting and harvesting. Or, you may find our Day Program out and about in the community, volunteering.

Our program focuses on decision-making, self-expression, health, and community involvement.

Our program is designed to lead the adults we serve to a more independent life filled with success and personal meaning.

Jennifer shares what our ADS program means to her: “I like the opportunity to make money, make friends, shop, learn new skills, and have the opportunity to be creative.”

At Lott, we’re honored to work with Jennifer and others to create opportunities that bring real meaning and purpose to each day.

Transforming Businesses

First Solar is a leading American solar technology company that manufactures advanced thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, with multiple manufacturing locations here in Northwest Ohio. At Lott Industries, we are honored to be a business partner, helping to manufacture First Solar shipping mats, ensuring a safe, effective delivery.

We have partnered with First Solar for 2 years. Their trust in our production has helped to provide hundreds of adults with developmental disabilities with work that is meaningful at the local and international levels.

Enriching Communities

Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, hope, and community. Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone should have a decent, safe, affordable place to call home.

Lott has had the privilege to partner with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity since 2017. Since the beginning of our partnership, 8 Lott employees have received homes and taken on the joy of homeownership. This past month, we were able to offer a House Blessing for Tamia Spears. On January 27th, we blessed the house as it prepares to become a home for Tamia.

Tamia helps to enrich lives daily at Lott, empowering adults with developmental disabilities to become more confident and independent. She is a part of the daily life change taking place. Because of her and many other generous staff, people of all abilities can work, learn life and job skills, and serve in the community. Because our community is strongest when everyone has a part to play.

“Lott is more than a financial blessing for me. You’re touching lives, changing lives, truly helping people. There aren’t too many jobs out there that many people can say, ‘I enjoy coming in'. Well, that’s mine. I’m blessed.”
